23 & 30 – Landscapes in Pastels I & II
A workshop presented by Collette Hurst

Materials and tools used in working with chalk pastels, and techniques and styles used to create various landscape effects. Participants will create a finished painting using photographs as reference. 2nd session January 30 also available or as snow date.

February

3 – Member meeting with demonstration
Many of you are familiar with Pam Chambers’s beautiful pottery work. Pam will be presenting a hands-on pottery workshop for our member meeting, which will be held at the New Hartford Firehouse on Route 219 in the center of town (corner of Greenwoods Road), on Wednesday, February 3 at 7 pm.

Participants will create a work of their own; glazing will be arranged for another time.

(Please note: The date of the meeting has been changed from Feb. 10th to the 3rd.)

Please contact Collette Hurst so we know what supplies will be needed.

20 & 27 – Watercolor Workshop I & II
A workshop presented by Collette Hurst

Color mixing, washes, shading, and brushstrokes. This workshop will focus on developing a successful composition and variety of moods in light conditions in landscape scenes. 2nd session February 27 also available or as snow date.

Information to be covered: variety of materials and tools; basic drawing shapes, shading techniques, and perspective; application of shape-building to paintings. Drawings will be created by participants using still life objects or photographs as reference.

Members Bonnie Boyle, Joyce Steadman, Cheryl Barker, Pam Chambers, and Marvis Gersten attended a June plein air workshop presented by Collette Hurst on the banks of the Farmington River. Participants enjoyed painting in the natural environment, saw various wildlife, experienced the challenge of changing light conditions, and created a variety of unique landscape paintings.
